Advanced beauty tools to take your skincare routine to the next level

15 November 2019 | Leigh van den Berg

There once was a time when a skincare routine was limited to not much beyond cleansing, toning and moisturising. Now, however, thanks to amazing innovations in tech, we’ve got access to cutting-edge beauty tools that can give us a salon-style experience at home.

Feel the power

Sure, you can wash your face with a little face wash and a splash of water. However, if you want to deep cleanse in a way that allows you to remove more dirt from every pore, you’ll love Sorbet’s Compact Facial Cleanser.

Essentially a motorised facial cleansing brush, it sports three interchangeable heads and two speed settings. The regular brush head is great for everyday cleansing; the charcoal-infused brush head can help absorb excess oil and impurities and the make-up removal brush head gently whips away foundation in a flash.

Being small in size (but not lacking in cleaning power), its ideal to toss into your travel bag and can be charged on the go via a USB cable. Clever stuff!

Turbo-clean your pores

Using your fingers to poke and prod your pores in a bid to remove blackheads can damage your skin and lead to an infection. Fortunately, thanks to Sorbet’s 4-in-1 Pore Purifyer device, you can literally vacuum impurities from your pores in a way that’s gentle and safe. Better yet, it also exfoliates dead, dry skin; improves your skin’s circulation and triggers your body’s natural healing response that triggers the creation of more collagen.

The device includes three detachable heads – a circular head that can be used anywhere; a small round one for tricky to reach, sensitive areas; and an oval one that can be used around the sides of your lips. It also has four different suction strengths so you can create a customised, salon-style, deep cleansing treatment at home.

See the light

Light therapy has become a popular, non-invasive treatment used in salons, but now you can reap the same skin-rejuvenating benefits at home. It involves exposing your skin to coloured LED lights that each offer a different benefit. For example, red LED light can trigger your skin to produce more collagen. This can help plump it up and reduce the look of fine lines. Blue LED light, however, can kill the bacteria that are responsible for acne, reducing inflammation and can lighten pigmentation.

Sorbet’s 5-in-1 Light Therapy device is a skincare gamechanger in that it uses the power of LED light therapy. But it doesn’t stop there! It also relies on radiofrequency energy and a mild electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) pulse current to gently lift and tighten your skin.

Another of Sorbet’s innovative LED-emitting products is their pocket-sized Light Therapy Pen. It uses red as well as blue LED lights to stimulate collagen, blitz bacteria, reduce swelling and minimise pigmentation.

We’ve seen the future of beauty, and things are looking bright!
