Top 3 tips from a make-up pro

Make-up artist to the stars, Faith Seoue, gets you camera-ready for spring.

by Candice Verwey

Johannesburg-based make-up artist Faith Seoue has worked with a number of high-profile South African celebrities including Nomzamo Mbatha, Pearl Modiadie, Phuthi Khomo, and Poppy Ntshongwana. Here she helps you become star quality too...

1. Pump up your lashes

While she likes to draw her inspiration from the stars' distinctive features and signature styles, Seoue admits to a fail-proof secret weapon: the humble eyelash, applied just right: “A great lash that’s not too heavy or overdone always glams up the look,” she says.

2. Glowing skin and pastel hues for eyes

To create Seoue’s go-trend trend for this season, apply a little bronzer to skin, use lots of fun, bright eye pencil in a pastel shade, and make sure your lashes are well defined. Finish off with bold, bright lips or, for a subtler look, opt for a sheer lip-gloss with a hint of fresh colour.

3. Flawless foundation

When it comes to make-up for a special occasion, Seoue’s philosophy is simple: “Your foundation must always match your skin. It should be applied flawlessly and kept to a minimum if you don’t need it. Blend, blend and blend some more, and avoid looking overdone by only emphasising one feature.”

Seoue’s favourite Clicks products

By her own admission, Seoue is a “big Clicks shopper.” Among her favourite Clicks buys are Eylure lashes, ORS hair products and L’Oréal and Rimmel mascaras. “Clicks also has a wide variety of my favourite nail polish brands,” she says.
