Clicks Stores and the South African lockdown: What you need to know

24 March 2020

On 22 March 2020 the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown that will last from 26 March 2020 to 16 April 2020 in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

While this lockdown will halt a wide range of commercial activity and movement, the President made provision for the continuation of certain essential services, such as those provided by pharmacies and food retailers.

Clicks’ pharmacy and healthcare services will continue during this time

Our duty and focus is to ensure that the pharmacy, healthcare and a wide range of the essential products that we sell are available to those who need them. The following measures have been put in place to ensure that consumers still have access to basic health products:

  • Clicks stores and pharmacies remain open.

  • Clicks Clinics remain open focussing on flu vaccinations as their key priority

  • Clicks stores are continuously receiving deliveries and, to ensure that essential products are available for all customers, we have restricted purchase quantity to 6 units of each product per customer and online certain items are restricted to 3 units online.

Clicks' services that are available online and via the app

To support the President’s request that we must all urgently try and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and flatten the curve, we ask customers to try and make use of our services that minimise contact:

  • The Clicks App allows all prescriptions to be submitted to a pharmacy counter, for collection in 4 hours.

  • The Repeat Prescription Service enables your medication to be prepared in advance and reminders sent to you for collection.

  • Clicks Direct Medicine delivers your chronic medication to your home.

  • Clicks website allows you to shop all your front shop needs for delivery to your home or your nearest store for collection.

Should you need to visit your nearest store, please practice social distancing by keeping 2 metres away from other customers and staff, and by following these guidelines to protect yourself and others from the virus.

If you suspect you might have the COVID-19 virus, call your healthcare provider. Calling ahead prevents you from spreading – or being infected by – the Coronavirus and allows your healthcare provider to direct you to the right facility.
