1. Do any of my relatives have diabetes?

A susceptibility to the disease can run in families, so find out if your blood relatives have type-1 or type-2 diabetes.

2. Am I clinically overweight or obese?

If you have a body mass index of 25 or higher, your risk of developing insulin resistance and consequently diabetes, increases.

3. Am I a couch potato?

A sedentary lifestyle is a contributor to developing diabetes.

4. Do I have a history of high cholesterol, high blood pressure and/or heart disease?

These factors are often linked to your diet and exercise levels.
