If assembled, open the lid with locking button (2) and remove the cooking pot from the base unit. c. Measure out the desired amount of rice, using level cups of your chosen rice using the supplied measuring cup (10). d. Thoroughly rinse the rice to remove dust and excess starch. This greatly assists in obtaining light, fluffy rice when cooked. e. Add the washed rice to the cooking pot. f. Add cold water using the measuring cup provided, to the exact level indicated inside the inner pot, for example, for 2 cups of uncooked rice, fill the inner pot with water to level 2. Note: if cooking Brown Rice, you will need to add an additional 1/2 cup of water. Warning: do not use metal kitchen utensils in the cooking pot, as this will damage the non-stick coating. g. The cook indicator light (red) (7) will illuminate briefly and then change over to the warm indicator light (yellow) (6). j. When the rice is ready, the multi cooker will automatically switch to warm mode. You can leave your rice to keep warm for as long as you need to prepare the remainder of your meal. Note: we do not recommend that this exceeds five hours, as the rice may discolour and the flavour be compromised. l. When you are ready to serve your rice, use oven gloves or Mitts to release and remove the lid and then the cooking pot from the base unit. m. Serve. Warning: do not use metal kitchen utensils in the cooking pot, as this will damage the non-stick coating. Note: we recommend you clean the appliance as soon as possible after use, before food residues dry on, as described in the cleaning and storage section. Cooking tips: Cooking times will vary depending on the types of food being cooked. Be aware of this and always allow sufficient time. It is normal for a small amount of rice to stick to the bottom of the cooking pot and perhaps for a small amount of burning to occur. If this becomes unacceptable, a little more water can be added to prevent this. The ratios (rice/water) given for rice cooking are for guidance only, these can be adjusted as all rice brands and varieties are slightly different. This is a matter of experience coupled with some trial and error. It is important to always use the supplied measuring cup for measuring the rice, as this will provide consistency. When you wash rice, aim to wash until the water in the bowl you use becomes clear. You can use your fingers to rub the grains to help in achieving this. Wash your hands first, though. Care and cleaning: Cleaning: We recommend that the multi cooker is cleaned as soon as it has cooled down after use. To prevent the build-up of any residues. Proceed as follows: 1. Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and allow to cool down completely. 2. Press the locking button and remove the cooking pot. 3. Thoroughly wash the cooking pot and utensils in hot, soapy water, using a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse and dry. Note: if any residues do remain in the cooking pot, add a little washing up liquid, fill with hot water and leave to soak for a couple of hours or overnight. 4. Wipe the inside and outside of the base unit with a moist cloth. Rub dry with a soft cloth. Warning: do not use abrasive, caustic or solvent cleaners on your appliance. These may damage the surface finishes. Warning: do not immerse the base unit (5), power cord or mains plug (12) in water or any other liquid. Note: neither the cooking pot or the lid and inner lid insert are dishwasher safe. For household use only.
