Smart tips: 1. Freeze left over citrus juice in ice trays to make refreshing flavoured water. 2. Freeze spare citrus juices to make slushies when citrus is not in season. Sugar free lemonade recipe. 4 juicy lemons. 5 cups cold water. 1/2 cup of honey. Juice lemons and pour in pitcher. Add cold water and honey and mix well. Add some fresh mint leaves and strawberries for variety. Instruction booklet. Please read these instructions before use. Please retain your instruction booklet for future use. Before use: Remove any packaging and promotional material from your citrus juicer and position it on a stable, secure, dry and level work surface, away from the edge of the surface. Place the jug (D) onto the base (E) so that it engages. Put the cone (B) on to the shaft (C). Ensure that it is fitted securely onto the driving shaft. Hold the lid (A) over the jug and lower it into position. Caution: avoid contact with moving parts at all times during operation. Operating instructions: The appliance will only function correctly if all parts have been properly assembled. 1. Wash the fruit and/or vegetables and cut them into pieces that will fit into the unit. Do not put them into the unit yet. Note: citrus fruits, etc., will need to be peeled prior to juicing. 2. Connect the appliance to the wall outlet socket and switch on. 3. Put the peeled pieces into the top of the unit and gently push them down. After you have processed all the ingredients and the juice flow has stopped, switch the appliance off. Care and cleaning: The appliance is easier to clean if you do so immediately after use. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, scourers, acetone, alcohol, etc., to clean the appliance. All detachable parts, except the base unit (motor), are dishwasher safe. 1. Switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the wall socket. 2. Remove all the detachable parts from the motor unit. Disassemble the appliance in the following order: Remove the lid. Remove the juice collector jug together with the filter. 3. Clean these parts with a stiff brush in warm water, with some washing up liquid and rinse them under a tap. Note: pay particular attention to the filter. It is important to remove all residue from it. Failure to do so will affect the performance of the juicer. 4. Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the base unit (motor) in water, nor rinse it under the tap. Troubleshooting: Problem - Solution: The appliance does not work - switch off. Check for correct assembly and that jug mechanism is in position. There is a smell from the motor unit the first few times the appliance is used - this is normal. It is just manufacturing residues burning off. If the smell persists, make sure you are not overloading the juicer or trying to process the fruit or vegetables too quickly. There is a lot of noise when operating, a strong smell or the unit is becoming very hot - switch off immediately and contact your service centre for advice. The filter is blocked - switch off. Check that the filter is clean. There is a strong vibration when processing the fruit or vegetables. Reduce the quantity you are trying to process. Switch the appliance off and unplug it. Check if the filter has been properly placed in the juice collector. Check if the filter is damaged. Cracks, splits or any other damage can cause this type of malfunction. Juicer recipes: Lemon and honey dressing: Ingredients: 6 tbsp. virgin olive oil. Juice of 1 lemon (approx. 3 tbsp). 1 tbsp. Honey. Sea salt and ground black pepper for seasoning. Directions: 1. Extract the lemon juice using the citrus juicer, then combine all the ingredients in a jug. 2. Mix together well and use as needed. 3. Store any unused dressing in an airtight container in the fridge, for no more than two days. Information: Makes approximately 150 ml dressing. Tips: Using the citrus juicer will allow you to get the most juice from the lemons. Lemon curd: Ingredients: 4 unwaxed lemons - juice and zest. 200 g castor sugar. 100 g butter, cut into cubes. 3 eggs. 1 egg yolk. Directions: 1. Grate the zest from the lemons, using a very fine grater. 2. Extract the lemon juice using the citrus juicer and then combine all the ingredients in a heat-proof bowl, then whisk together, making sure they are well combined. 3. Sit the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water, ensuring that the water is not touching the bowl. 4. Stir the mixture every now and then, until it is a creamy consistency, thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. 5. Allow to cool slightly and pour/spoon the mixture into a prepared jar. 6. Store in the fridge and use within 2 weeks. Information: Makes approximately one 500 g jar of lemon curd. Tips: Using the citrus juicer means you get the most juice from your lemon. Ensure you wash and sterilise the jar before filling with curd. Citrus marmalade: Ingredients: 1 kg of mixed citrus fruits, such as scrubbed lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit. 2 kg of preserving sugar. 2.5 litres of water. Directions: 1. Extract the juice using the citrus juicer and pour into a preserving pan. 2. Using a sharp knife, slice the peel and pith into thin, medium or chunky shreds, according to your preference. 3. Add the prepared peel to the juice in the preserving pan and cover with the 2.5 litres of water. Leave overnight, or for up to 24 hours. 4. Bring to the boil and simmer slowly, until the peel is tender and the mixture has reduced by one third. This will take approximately 2 hours. 5. Stir in the sugar, then stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Then boil rapidly until setting point has been reached. 6. Leave to cool for 10 minutes, then pour into sterilised jars and seal. Information: Makes approximately five 450g jars. Tips: Using the citrus juicer will allow you to get the most juice from the lemons. Sterilise the jam jars and lids. Setting point can be tested by dropping a little of the marmalade onto a clean saucer. Once cooled, if the mixture wrinkles when pushed with your finger, setting point has been reached.
