Usage instructions:
Step 1: before relaxing: Stop: Before proceeding, read the following instructions and warnings carefully, as well as the complete list of warnings on the outer kit carton. Make sure you assemble everything you need for the relaxer service. The ORS™ Olive Oil Built-In Protection™ no-lye relaxer system includes: Relaxer base & activator. Creamy Aloe Shampoo™. Incredibly Rich Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion™. Replenishing Pak™. Wrap/Set Mousse™. Gloves & mixing stick. You will also need: A comb or applicator. Hair oil (use to base). A clock or timer. A towel. Special note before relaxing: everyone should protect their hairline and ears with hair oil because these are the most delicate areas that are easily irritated. However, if you have a sensitive scalp, make sure to part your hair and apply the hair oil directly to the entire scalp (not the hair) before relaxing. Step 2: mixing & strand test: 1. Put on gloves provided in kit. 2. Pour entire contents of ORS™ activator (B) into ORS™ base (A) and mix thoroughly. Important: do not apply to hair until completely smooth and without lumps. Mix for approximately one minute. Failure to mix thoroughly may cause scalp irritation, hair damage, and/or hair loss. Strand test: cut a small section of hair from the back of the head. Tape one end of the hair strands together. Apply relaxer evenly. Follow timing guide. If not straight enough, continue checking every 1-2 minutes until desired straightness is achieved. Examine strand test section and note timing. Do not exceed the maximum time on the timing chart based on hair texture. First-time users: make sure you do a strand test. Strand tests are important because they help you determine the length of time you need to relax your hair. Step 3: application. Apply relaxer close to the scalp, but not on the scalp. If this is a touch-up, apply to new growth only. 3A. Part hair into 4 sections. Set the timer for the recommended time. See the timing chart section. 3B. Next, apply to the back sections. 3C. Apply relaxer to top of the head first (with comb or applicator brush), since this section is the most resistant and takes the longest to process. Then apply to front section. See tips for smoothing. Apply to the hairline last. This section is the most delicate and needs to be treated with tender-loving care. Step 4: smoothing: Why smooth? Smoothing is an essential step to the relaxing process. It helps you to achieve the desired straightness by evenly distributing the relaxer. How to smooth: 1. Smooth the relaxer using the back of a comb or fingertips. 2. Start smoothing where the relaxer was first applied (top of head). 3. Continue throughout head in the order the relaxer was applied. 4. Make sure that you don't exceed your recommended time. Tips for smoothing: To relax virgin hair... Smooth from roots to end. Do not comb through because combing can cause damage to the hair and scalp. To touch-up... Apply and smooth the relaxer through new growth only. Avoid smoothing throughout hair because this will cause over-processing of previously relaxed hair. Timing chart: Normal: For fine-medium hair textures. Application and smoothing: Hair texture - maximum time. Fine - 10-12 minutes. Medium - 13-15 minutes. Resistant - 15-18 minutes. Extra strength: For coarse-resistant hair textures. Application and smoothing. Hair texture - maximum time. Coarse - 12-18 minutes. Resistant - 15-20 minutes. Total application and smoothing must not exceed the maximum time shown on this timing chart. Over-processing will damage the hair. Timing chart is not applicable when relaxer is only applied to edges of hair. This product is not intended for use for spot application or on hair with weave, braids or extensions. Step 5: rinse: Using warm water, thoroughly rinse the hair, especially around the ears, nape, and hairline. Rinsing is important to avoid damage and over-processing of your hair. After rinsing, you will notice that your hair will feel silky and tangle free. Step 6: neutralizing: 1. Apply a generous amount of ORS™ Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo™ to the hair and work into a rich lather. 2. Rinse, repeat shampoo. 3. Leave on for 2-3 minutes. After rinsing, your hair will feel deeply cleansed and tangle free! 4. Towel-dry hair. Why do you need to use the ORS™ Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo™? It has been specially formulated to stop the relaxing process and aids in returning your hair to its normal pH balance. It also helps to ensure that all traces of the relaxer are removed from hair. Step 7: conditioning: 1. Apply a generous amount of ORS™ Olive Oil Replenishing Pak™ conditioner to the hair. The Replenishing Pak™ will fortify and balance the moisture and protein content in the hair, resulting in stronger and healthier-looking hair that is shiny and manageable. 2. Put on a plastic cap and let sit for 10-15 minutes. 3. Rinse hair and towel dry. Step 8: styling options: Wrapping the hair is a wonderful way to achieve a straight style without using a lot of heat. Wrap the hair with ORS™ Olive Oil Wrap/Set Mousse™ to leave the hair looking smooth and silky. Roller-setting gives the hair body without using excessive heat. Roller set the hair with ORS™ Olive Oil Wrap/Set Mousse™ for more body and longer-lasting curls. Blow-drying is an easy way to dry the hair; however, it can cause breakage or damage to hair if it's not done properly. Use the ORS™ Olive Oil Incredibly Rich Hair Lotion™ to help protect the hair from heat, add shine, and soften hair. Safe blow-drying tip: 1. Dry hair 90% prior to blow-drying by air drying or using dryer (warm temperature). This will minimize the amount of heat needed. Keep your hairstyles looking their best: 1. Always protect your style with a satin or silk scarf at night or sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. 2. Avoid using a lot of heat from heat styling tools. 3. Keep your scalp moisturized with ORS™ Olive Oil Incredibly Rich Hair Lotion™ or olive oil creme. 4. Finish your style with ORS™ Olive Oil Nourishing Sheen Spray™ or Olive Oil Glossing Polisher™. Guide to achieving a successful relaxer: Do's. Follow the timing chart to prevent over-processing, hair damage, or possible hair loss. Minimize overlapping relaxer onto previously relaxed hair. Smooth the hair with back of comb or cushions of the fingers. Wait 6-8 weeks between relaxer application. If relaxer comes in contact with skin, wipe off with a damp cloth. Wait 2 weeks before or after relaxer service to apply a permanent color to the hair. Wait 2 weeks after removing braids or extensions from the hair before applying a relaxer. Be sure to condition hair before relaxing. Use mixed relaxer within one day. Do not store mixed relaxer. Don't: Pre-shampoo hair. Comb or brush hair vigorously before relaxing. Scratch the scalp before relaxer. Apply to irritated, scratched or inflamed scalp. Relax damaged hair. Comb relaxer through hair. Drink coffee or hot drinks before relaxing. Press (hot comb) the hair while wearing a relaxer. Apply relaxer when the body temperature is elevated, and/or perspiration is present on the skin and/or scalp. Relax hair immediately after the removal of braids or extensions. Substitute products for other products that are not in the ORS™ no-lye relaxer kit. Use anti-dandruff shampoo 2 weeks prior to or after a relaxer. Apply to hair that has been shampoo 2-5 days prior to relaxing. Apply to scalp or surrounding skin areas. Relax hair and use permanent hair color the same day.

Store in cool dry place at room temperature.

Warnings:
Contains alkali. Caution: this product contains ingredient(s) that will cause irritancy reaction when it comes into contact with the skin and/or eyes. Avoid contact with eyes. Can cause blindness. If the product comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with water and contact a medical practitioner if irritation persists. Do not rub eyes. Do not use if there has been reaction to a similar product. Carefully follow the instruction sheet provided. Do not shampoo the hair 24 hours before using the relaxer, unless otherwise specified. To avoid skin and scalp irritation, hair loss, hair breakage, and/or eye/ear injury do not apply directly to scalp or hairline. Apply relaxer only to hair that has not been relaxed. If hair has been previously relaxed, apply only to new growth. Do not use this product if scalp is irritated or on bleached, frosted, color lifted, damaged, or curly permed hair (ammonium thioglycolate). Do not use on hair that has been treated with "natural relaxers" containing metallic salts or ammonium bisulfate. Do not use extra strength relaxer on hair that has been treated with permanent or demi-permanent color. Rinse the scalp and hair thoroughly with water as soon as the relaxing process is complete or if irritation/discomfort occurs; and shampoo with ORS™ creamy aloe shampoo. If irritation persists, or if hair loss occurs, consult a medical practitioner. Serious injury may result if the relaxer is ingested. For external use only. If ingested or internal contact occurs consult a medical practitioner immediately. Do not induce vomiting. Relaxer product chemically restructures curly hair and should not be used as a conditioning treatment. Keep out of reach of children. This product contains calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate. Always wear gloves. Follow directions carefully to avoid skin and scalp irritation, hair loss or eye injury. Do not use on an irritated scalp, curly permed hair (ammonium thioglycolate) or hair that has been bleached or damaged. Apply only to hair that has not been relaxed. If relaxer causes irritation, immediately rinse and shampoo the hair with ORS ™ Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo™. If irritation persists, or if hair loss occurs, consult a medical practitioner.
