Please read this manual before using your Safeway products and keep it in a safe place for future reference. If you pass the appliance on to anyone else, you should also pass on these instructions. Keep the packaging until you are satisfied that this product is operating correctly. Before use: Prior to first use, the toaster should be used for a few minutes without bread in it. There will be some smoke at first. This is entirely normal as the product is new. Operation: 1. Place your toaster on a flat, dry, stable surface. 2. Place bread or other food suitable for toasting into the slot and adjust browning control as desired. 3. Press down the start control. The toaster will start heating. The start control lever will remain down until the bread is toasted. 4. If you wish to stop the toasting process, press the cancel button. This will automatically eject the toast, and cancel the heating elements. 5. If the bread sticks in the toaster, unplug it, wait for it to cool and remove the bread. Never use metal utensils to remove the bread. 6. After use, wipe away crumbs using a dry cloth. 7. Always allow at least 1 minute's cooling time between cycles if the toaster is being used more than once at a time. Care and cleaning: Do not immerse in water. Unplug from the power outlet (mains). Do not use coarse or abrasive sponges/cloths or steel wool to clean the toaster. Never spray or apply cleaner directly onto or into the toaster - cleaner should be applied to a soft cloth. The outside of the toaster should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and polished with a soft, dry cloth. After cleaning, wait a few minutes for the toaster to dry completely before use. Safety precautions: The product may only be used with the parts provided by the manufacturer. Use an earthed wall socket. Always place the appliance on a solid, flat, dry surface. Never use your appliance near water or in areas where it can come into contact with water. Never handle the appliance if it was dropped into water or any other liquid. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Avoid the use of an extension cord as this may overheat and cause a risk of fire. Make sure that the voltage indicated on the product corresponds with the mains voltage in your home. Connect the appliance to a single-phase AC supply of the voltage specified on the rating plate. Clicks shall not be held liable for any failures owing to any discrepancy and such failures shall not be covered by the guarantee. The appliance is intended for household use only. Commercial use invalidates the warranty and the supplier cannot be held responsible for injury or damage caused when using the appliance for any other purpose than that intended. Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when not in use. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have beebeen given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Extreme caution must be exercised. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Packaging must never be left within reach of children since it is potentially dangerous. Be sure that no other appliances are in use on the same electrical circuit as your product as an overload can occur. Never leave the appliance unattended when connected to the power supply. Unplug the appliance after use. Store in the original box in a cool, dry place out of reach of children. Additional warnings: 1. Children and infants are prohibited from using this product. 2. Never remove the cord from the socket while in operation. Switch off the appliance first. 3. Do not touch the outer surface of the toaster while it is in operation. 4. Allow the toaster to cool down before attempting to remove any parts for cleaning. Environmentally friendly disposal: Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and wellbeing.
