How to use

Usage instructions:
Please read this instruction manual before using your Safeway product and keep it in a safe place for future reference. If you pass the appliance on to anyone else, please include this manual. We also recommend you keep the packaging until you are satisfied that this product is operating correctly. Before use: Before using for the first time, remove any sticker or protective foil from the soleplate. Clean the soleplate with a soft cloth to remove residue. The iron has been greased and as a result may produce smoke when switched on for the first time. After a short while, this will cease. Keep the soleplate smooth by avoiding contact with metal objects. Environmentally-friendly disposal: Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and wellbeing. Directions for use: safety precautions and directions for use are included in owner's manual. Operation: Filling with water: 1. Make sure the iron is unplugged and the thermostat dial is in the MIN position. 2. Place iron on the heel rest, tilt forward at an approximately 45 degrees angle and pour water into the water inlet to the MAX position of the water tank. Vertical steam: 1. "Burst of steam" can also be applied when holding the iron in vertical position. This is useful for removing creases from hanging clothes, curtains, etc. Dry ironing: 1. Set the steam/spray nozzle variable control button to position "O" (no steam). 2. As per washing labels of various clothing items, set the correct ironing temperature to begin ironing. Steam ironing: 1. Fill the steam iron with water. 2. Plug the appliance into a supply socket which corresponds to the rating label on the product. 3. Set the thermostat dial to the MAX position as per the temperature indicator. 4. The indicator light will switch off when the desired temperature has been reached. 5. Set the steam control button correctly. Increase or decrease the steam output by adjusting the steam control knob. Burst of steam: 1. By pressing the "burst of steam" button, an intense burst of steam is emitted from the soleplate. This can be very useful when removing stubborn creases. The shot of steam facility must be used only while ironing at a high ironing temperature. For optimal results, there should be 5 seconds' rest between presses of the steam button. 2. This function works well for tough wrinkles and heavy fabrics. Spraying methods. 1. At any temperature, the laundry can be damped by pressing the spray button a couple of times. Ensure that there is enough water in the water tank. Cleaning and maintenance: Before cleaning, remove the plug from the socket and allow the iron to cool down sufficiently. 1. Wipe off the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive (liquid) cleaner. 2. If the fibre sticks to the soleplate, use a damp cloth with vinegar to wipe off the soleplate. 3. Never use strong acid or alkali in order to avoid damaging the soleplate. 4. If the scale blocks the steam hole, please remove the scale with a toothpick; do not damage the surface of the soleplate. 5. Stand the iron on its end and let it cool down sufficiently. 6. Pour any remaining water out of the box; set the steam knob to position "O". Simple repair methods: Problem - possible reasons - measurement. Not enough heat or too much heat - improper rotation of the thermostat dial or unplugging - ensure thermostat dial is in correct position and check if the iron is plugged. No steam or leakage - the thermostat dial has been set to MIN - set the thermostat dial to the required position. No burst of steam or no vertical steam - the (vertical) burst of steam function has been used too often within a very short period. The iron is not hot enough - continue ironing in horizontal position and watt a while before using the (vertical) burst of steam function again. Leaking water from soleplate - set the thermostat dial out of steam range - set the thermostat dial as per steam range. Leaking water from soleplate - the iron has not heated up enough - open steam control button only after the indicator light goes off. Leaking water from soleplate - the water is over the max position - pour out the remaining water. Too little steam - check if the steam control button is in the proper position - set the steam control button to the proper location. Too little steam - steam hole is blocked - clean hole with distilled water. Too little steam - too little water in the water tank - fill water into the box. No spraying - not enough pressure or air inside - press the spray nozzle by hand and push the spray button several times continuously.
