Operation: Filling with water: 1. Make sure the iron is unplugged and the thermostat dial is in the min position. 2. Place iron on the heel rest, tilt forward at an approximately 45 degree angle and pour water into the water inlet to the max position. 3. Do not use chemically descaled water. 4. Pour out any remaining water after use. Setting the temperature: Always check first to see whether ironing instructions are attached to the garment to be ironed (they can be found on a label showing a drawing of an iron. The numbers of dots indicate the correct temperature. Refer to the indications on the iron's temperature dial and in the table below). Follow these ironing instructions in all instances. If ironing instructions are missing, but you know the kind of fabric the item to be ironed is made of, then see the table below. The table is valid for the actual materials and not applicable to any applied finishes, gloss, prints, etc. Fabrics to which some kind of finish has been applied (gloss, wrinkle relief, etc.) Can best be ironed on somewhat lower temperatures. Sort the fabrics out according to ironing temperature first: wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. The iron heats up quicker than it cools down. Therefore, start by ironing the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibres. Then progress to fabrics requiring higher ironing temperatures. Turn the temperature control knob round until it is opposite the setting pointer. Surge steam ironing: The surge-of-steam feature provides powerful steam for removing stubborn creases. Fill the iron with water as described in the "filling with water" section. Plug the appliance into a supply socket which corresponds to the rating label on the product. As indicated on the temperature control knob, steam ironing is only possible at higher temperature settings indicated with the 'max' mark, otherwise water will leak from the soleplate. Turn the temperature control knob to the position according to the fabric being ironed as described in the "setting the temperature" section. The indicator light will turn to "off" when the indicated setting reaches the correct temperature. Press the "steam jet" button to release a surge of steam. Pressing the button several times may be necessary to prime the surge system. Wait a few seconds for the steam to penetrate the fabric before pressing the button again for more steam. Note: for optimum steam quality, do not apply more than four successive shots of steam after the indicator light turns off. Cleaning and maintenance: 1. Before cleaning, remove the plug from the socket and allow the iron to cool down sufficiently. 2. Wipe off the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive (liquid) cleaner. 3. If any fibres have adhered to the soleplate, use a damp cloth with vinegar to wipe off the soleplate. 4. Never use strong acid or alkali in order to avoid damaging the soleplate. 5. If the scale blocks the steam hole, please remove the scale with a toothpick. Take care not damage the surface of the soleplate. 6. Stand the iron on its end and let it cool down sufficiently. 7. Pour out any remaining water and set the steam knob to position "O". Environmentally friendly disposal. Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical products are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the ground-water and get into the food chain, damaging your health and wellbeing.
