How to use

Usage instructions:
If breastfeeding is not adopted, Similac Gold Comfort 1 is a started infant formula and may be recommended by your doctor. Directions for preparation and use: use and feed as directed by your doctor. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's doctor. Use safe, drinkable water that has previously been heated at a rolling boil for 5 minutes. Allow the water to cool and follow mixing instructions carefully. Only use the scoop enclosed in this tin to measure Similac Gold Comfort 1. Prepare only one feed at a time. If you need to prepare more than one feed, it must be refrigerated at 2-4 degrees C and used within 24 hours. Once feeding begins, use within one hour or discard. Always hold your baby upright while feeding. Note: prepared formula may also be fed from a cup. Preparing a single feed: (1) Thoroughly wash cup, feeding bottle, teat, cap and all utensils to be used in preparing the feed. (2) After rinsing soap from the utensils, boil them for 5 minutes. (3) Provide a clean surface on which to prepare the formula. (4) In a separate pan, heat safe drinkable water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes and allow it to cool. (5) Pour the correct amount of warm, previously boiled water into the sterilised feeding bottle or cup. (6) Fill scoop, then scrape level with the straight edge of a knife. (7) Add one level scoop of Similac Gold Comfort 1 to each 60 ml of water in the bottle or cup. (8) Mix until completely dissolved. Test temperature and feed. (9) Discard unused formula within 1 hour. Suggested feeding schedule: To prepare one feed. Approximate age of baby - Warm (previously boiled) water, ml - number of level scoops - Approximate number of feeds per 24 hours: Birth-2 weeks - 60 - 1 - 8-10. 2 weeks-2 months - 120 - 2 - 6-7. 2 months-6 months - 180 - 3 - 5-6. These are only suggested feeding intakes; every baby is different. Consult your baby's doctor about how much your baby should be consuming.

Storage instructions:
Store unopened tin under normal room temperature conditions. Once the tin is opened, contents should be used within 3 weeks. Cover opened tin and store in a cool, dry place (not in a refrigerator).
