Usage instructions:
Do's and don'ts: 1. Read this instruction sheet in its entirety before proceeding to step one. 2. Do a preliminary strand test prior to a relaxer application. 3. Do not overlap relaxer creme onto previously relaxed hair and color-treated hair. 4. Don't shampoo your hair 72 hours before relaxing. 5. Don't apply relaxer if your scalp is irritated or damaged. 6. Don't scratch your scalp with a comb, brush, or fingernails. 7. Don't relax your hair if it is brittle, splitting or breaking. 8. Don't apply relaxer directly to your scalp and surrounding skin areas. 9. Don't pull or stretch your hair while relaxing. 10. Don't use products not included in the Ultimate Organic Therapy™ kit. 11. Don't relax your new growth again for at least six weeks. 12. Don't get relaxer in your eyes, ears or mouth. 13. Don't use permanent hair color for at least two weeks before or after relaxing your hair. 14. Don't relax your hair if it has been bleached or treated with compound henna or metallic dyes. 15. Don't relax your hair, if it has been curled with a permanent cold wave process or curly perm (thioglycolate). 16. Don't use anti-dandruff shampoos for at least two weeks before or after relaxing your hair. 17. Don't relax your hair immediately after removing braids, extensions, or weave (bonded or stitched). Wait two weeks before relaxing; during interim, frequently condition hair. Timing guide: Timing is critical. Follow the timing guide or a lesser time as indicated by the strand test. The total time for application and smoothing must not exceed the maximum time allowed for your hair. Regular strength: Hair texture - application time - smoothing time - maximum time. Fine - 8 minutes - 5 to 7 minutes - 15 minutes. Medium - 8 minutes - 8 to 10 minutes - 18 minutes. Coarse - 8 minutes - 8 to 12 minutes - 20 minutes. Bleached - do not use - do not use - do not use. Super strength: Hair texture - application time - smoothing time - maximum time. Fine - note: do not use super for fine hair - use regular formula. Medium - 8 minutes - 8 to 10 minutes - 18 minutes. Coarse - 8 minutes - 8 to 12 minutes - 20 minutes. Bleached - do not use - do not use - do not use. 1 - Do you have everything you need? The kit contains the following: Activator - step 1. Creme relaxer - step 2. Neutralizing shampoo - step 3. Hair mayonnaise - step 4. Hair moisturizer - step 5. Plastic gloves. Wooden spatula. You will also need (not included): Towels. Wide tooth comb (do not use metal). Timer. 2 - Do a strand test before relaxing: Before every relaxer application, strand test your hair no matter how many times you have relaxed before. Here's how: a) Take a small section of your hair from the back of your hair line. b) Mix activator (step 1) and creme relaxer (step 2) according to mixing instructions. Apply mixture evenly on unrelaxed area of hair. c) After 8 minutes, smooth hair with even strokes. Leave mixture on hair for recommended time and continue to smooth. (Refer to timing guide). d) With warm water, thoroughly remove relaxer from your hair. Apply a small amount of neutralizing shampoo (step 3) with color change. Lather and rinse shampoo from your hair strands. Pink lather means relaxer is still on your hair. When the shampoo is completely white all the relaxer is rinsed from your hair. e) Gently stretch strands. If your hair breas easily. Do not relax your hair. f) If strand is not straight enough, increas smoothing frequency for greater straightness. Do not exceed time guide for your hair type. g) If skin allergy or irritation occurs do not relax your hair. 3 - How to mix activator and creme relaxer: Important: activator liquid (step 1) must be mixed with creme relaxer (step 2) before applying to hair. Use the wooden spatula to make a hollow center in the creme relaxer (step 2) jar. Pour entire contents of activator bottle (step 1) into creme relaxer jar (step 2). Mix vigorously until mixture is creamy and uniform in color. Remember: this creme relaxer is properly mixed only when the mixture is smooth, creamy (no lumps) and uniform in color (no white streaks). Note: an improperly mixed creme relaxer can produce an unsatisfactory relaxing experience. Do not allow mixture to stand for more than ~0 minutes prior to use. 4 - Relaxer application: a) Carefully detangle your hair with a large comb, being careful not to aggravate the scalp. b) Part your hair into 4 sections, down the middle and from ear to ear. c) Put on protective gloves. d) Set timer as indicated by your strand test and the timing guide. e) Start applying the relaxer creme in the back sections. Make small 1/4 inch partings and apply relaxer with the back of the wide tooth comb or with your fingers. Complete each section and leave the hair line edges for last. Application must be completed within 5 to 8 minutes. Re-touch new growth: If your hair has been relaxed before, apply only on the new growth. Never apply sooner than 6 weeks following your last treatment. Avoid spreading relaxer on previously relaxed hair. Application must be completed within 5 to 8 minutes. For unrelaxed hair/virgin hair: Spread down the entire length of your hair strands, section by section. Using a wide tooth comb, carefully comb through each section to insure even coverage. Do not tug, pull or force comb through tangles. 5 - Smoothing: Smoothing your hair improves straightening. Use your fingers or the back of a wide tooth comb to smooth your hair. Use short, firm strokes and follow the natural pattern of your hair. For retouching new growth, limit smoothing to new growth only. Check the timing chart for the recommended smoothing time for your hair type and consider the amount of time you smoothed during your strand test. 6 - Rinsing relaxer with water: Thoroughly rinse your hair with warm water to remove all of the creme relaxer (step 2). Keep your eyes closed tightly, and keep creme relaxer (step 2) away from your face, eyes, mouth and ears. While rinsing, use your fingers to gently open parts in the hair so the water can work its way through. Do not pull or tug while rinsing. Make sure that water removes all relaxer visible from your hair. 7 - Shampoo with neutralizing shampoo: Use immediately after relaxing hair - read instructions carefully before beginning. Thoroughly rinse out all traces of relaxer with warm water before shampooing. Apply shampoo (step 3) and work into lather. Check for traces of pink lather. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Repeat shampoo and work into lather. Again check for traces of pink lather. Repeat until shampoo lather is white and there are no traces of pink lather. Important: pink lather means that relaxer residue is still on hair. Shampoo and rinse until all pink is gone and lather is white. 8 - Condition with hair mayonnaise: After neutralizing shampooing (step 3), squeeze excess water from hair. Apply a generous amount of hair mayonnaise (step 4) to hair and gently comb with a wide tooth comb until all tangles are removed. Do not pull or force comb through tangles. Apply more hair mayonnaise to tangled hair and continue to comb with a wide tooth comb. Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water. Style as desired using olive oil cream (step 5). 9 - Moisturizer: After using hair mayonnaise (step 4), apply olive oil cream (step 5) to hair for greater elasticity, strength, body and sheen. Squeeze a small amount of cream into palm. Rub palms together and gently massage into hair and scalp. Style as desired. Can be used with setting lotions, wrap lotions and styling gels. Repeat daily, in between relaxer applications for best results.

Warnings:
Follow all directions carefully on instruction sheet inside kit box to avoid skin and scalp burns, hair loss and eye injury. This product contains calcium hydroxide. Do not use if scalp is irritated or injured. Do not use on hair that has been treated with a thioglycolate product (curly permed). Do not use on bleached hair or permanently colored hair that is breaking, splitting or otherwise damaged. If hair has been previously relaxed, apply to new growth only as described in the instruction sheet directions. If relaxer causes skin or scalp irritation, rinse out immediately and wash with the neutralizing shampoo in this kit. If irritation persists or hair loss occurs consult a physician. Keep away from eyes. Can cause blindness. If relaxer gets into eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water and consult a physician. Serious injury can result if relaxer and/or activator is ingested. If ingested contact a physician immediately. Hair burns, always keep hair away from sparks, open flames and excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children.
