Save these important safety instructions. Please read all instructions before using this appliance. Heating the appliance: Plug the power supply cord into a mains socket. To turn appliance on, push switch to "on" (1) position. The indicator light will glow red to indicate appliance is operating. To alter the temperature, turn the temperature control accordingly. Never leave this appliance on and unattended. To turn the appliance "off" (0), push the switch to the (0) position and unplug the power supply cord from the mains socket. Auto shut off feature: This appliance is fitted with an automatic shut off feature, the appliance will automatically turn off if no buttons are operated within 60 minutes. Styling: To straighten, separate a two-inch section of hair, gently place the hair between the hot smoothing plates and clamp down firmly on the handle. Slide the plates carefully down the isolated section in a smooth, even motion from the root towards the ends of the hair. This process should take approx. 5 to 8 seconds for fine hair and 10 to 15 seconds for thick hair (the ends will probably require less heat than hair that grows closer to the root). For best results, hold the ends of the hair while smoothing the section. Finally, release the pressure on the handles and allow the hair to gently slide away from the plates. To create a "flick", use the rounded end of the plates to curl up or under the ends of the hair. To create a curl from the straightener, take a section of hair, placing the hair between the plates. Simultaneously, roll & glide the straightener down through the hair, working from roots to ends. For defined curls take a smaller width of hair. Recommended hair type usage: Do not, under any circumstances, leave the appliance unattended when switched on. To turn the appliance off, push the switch to the off (0) position and unplug the appliance. For first use it is recommended that you start with the lowest heat setting and gradually increase temperature to find a suitable level. Only use as much heat as you need for effective styling. Fine hair will require a low heat setting and thicker, less manageable hair will usually require a medium-high heat setting. Hinge pin lock: This appliance has a lock which ensures that the product remains in a closed position when placed down. The appliance can be locked by sliding the silver hinge pin to one side. To unlock the appliance slide the hinge pin to its original position. Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance from the mains after use and allow it to cool before cleaning. To clean, wipe the straightener and plates with a damp cloth. Ensure the appliance is completely dry before use and that heated surfaces on the unit are free of dust, dirt, styling sprays and gels. Storage: Always unplug when not in use. Allow the appliance to cool before storing. Always store in a dry location. Do not pull or twist the cord. Do not wrap the cord around the appliance, as this may cause the cord to wear prematurely and break. Regularly check the power cord for wear and damage (particularly where it enters the appliance and the plug).
