Pharmacological action: Echinaforce has a modulating effect on the immune response. The alkylamides are the active components in echinaforce. They bind specifically to the CB2-receptor an endocannabinoid receptor. Through this linkage, activation of the gene for tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) takes place. The reaction to pathogens with Echinaforce results in a modulated release of TNF-alpha and acts to produce long-lasting response of the immune system.
