With the right products and some advice from the professionals, your natural hair transformation could happen sooner than you think.

The classic flat top

A chic, classic flat top gives your hair shape and creates the illusion of fuller, thicker locks - if your hair is thin, go for a shorter flat top. Add soft curls to the top by slightly wetting the crown and adding a R1-sized amount of curling cream. Have thick and wavy hair? Increase the height, and make sure your hairdresser cuts your hair when it’s dry, not wet, to give you the precise length you're after.

The buzzcut

This style is great for fine or thick cropped hair and works with every face shape. Plus, it’s low-maintenance and cuts down on your hair routine time in the morning. The best part about a buzzcut: If you don’t like the way it grows out, then you can cut it again – and start from the beginning. One word of warning: Be prepared to see your stylist often, especially if you want to maintain the length. You’ll need to have it trimmed every three to four weeks to keep it at the length you prefer.

The tiny ‘fro

Since the short ‘fro isn’t extremely cropped, it can soften strong cheekbones and a strong jawline, while still bringing attention to your eyes. It’s perfect for thick and curly natural hair, but short Afros can be tricky – as they need to be constantly moisturised, and the curl needs to always be maintained. A wash-and-go can do the job for a while, but to lock in the moisture for the rest of the day, opt for defining curl cream.
