How to create your best brows yet
How you shape and fill your eyebrows can make or break your look. Learn the tricks to perfecting your brow technique, here.
Well-groomed, beautifully-shaped brows can really change the shape of your face for the better. Makeup artist Tamryn Jefferies shares her expert advice on how to create your perfect set.
Get in shape
If you don’t feel confident shaping your own brows, Tamryn suggests leaving it to a pro. “Once they’ve created a great-looking arch, you can then maintain the look yourself by plucking any strays as they grow back,” she says.
However, if you’re feeling plucky, start by using a spooly brush to comb your brows outwards and upwards. According to Tamryn, the idea brow shape is when the beginning of the brow aligns with the centre of your nostril and the arch’s highest point is just above the outer edge of your iris closest to your ear.
“Use a pencil to identify these points and tweeze accordingly but take it slow!” she warns. Tamryn’s top tip is to step back and evaluate your work after every five hairs you pluck to minimise the risk of removing too many.
Time to define
Once you’ve created a flattering shape, it’s time to define. “Choose a brow product that’s either the same colour or just a little bit darker than your natural colour and use it to fill in any gaps and enhance what you’ve got,” says Tamryn. “Brow powders will create a softer, more natural look and a pencil or pomade will help you bring the drama. When you’re done, use a spooly brush to ‘fluff’ up your brows and comb them into place.”
Don’t need any colour? Have no problems with gaps? Consider yourself lucky and give your arches a sweep of brow gel to keep them in place.
