Nude nail polish will always be the easiest way to create a perfectly groomed, elegant look. In fact, “nude” is the only shade royals like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are allowed to wear as the Queen disapproves of dark colours. While Her Majesty is said to be a fan of Essie’s Ballet Slippers and Kate is famously fond of the brand’s shade Allure, the words “nude nail polish” encompass a rather large spectrum that extends far beyond just pale pink.

Finding your nude

In the same way that foundation comes in warm tones and cool tones, nude nail polish also runs hot and cold. If you’re cool-toned, you’re going to look good in blue-toned nudes like baby pink. If you’re warm-toned, you’ll be more flattered by shades that lean towards the beige or peach side of the spectrum.

Still confused? Take a look at your nail beds. If they lean towards the pink side of life, you’ll look best in a cool-toned hue. More beige or yellow? Opt for a warm-toned nude.

Get a little extra

Nude doesn’t have to mean sheer or even boring. Spread your nude wings a little wider and experiment with hues that are completely opaque or have a sparkly finish. Also, greys, taupes and pale mauves aren’t exactly the colour of anyone’s fingertips but they’re subtle enough to pass as a “nude” on a day when you’re wanting a look that’s super stylish yet still subtle.
