Naturally found in skin, and hailed as one of the best skin care ingredients to help in the fight against aging - and incredibly beneficial for your skin’s good health too -  hyaluronic acid is a wonder molecule that benefits all skin types.

Here’s more on why - and how- you should be using it, says scientist and CEO of Biomedical Emporium, Dr Judey:

It can make you look younger

“Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide molecule which is one of the main components of connective tissue within the skin,” explains Dr Judey. “It forms a gelatinous matrix helping to stimulate collagen synthesis as well as assisting the skin to retain more moisture”, she goes on to say. In plain English? More collagen and better hydrated skin equals a younger looking complextion

Our natural supplies don’t have a long shelf-life

“When the skin is exposed to harmful social and environmental extremities such as UV rays which means sunburn, the skin becomes inflamed and the cells in the dermis stop producing hyaluronic acid,” reports Dr Judey. “This also increases the overall degradation of collagen and elastin fibres.” The answer? “It is critical to supplement your skin daily with a product that contains hyaluronic acid to assist with moisture retention and to enhance the elasticity and tensile strength of the skin.

It’s can be easily found in all your treatment products

With hyaluronic acid, it’s a case of more is more and Dr Judey recommends reaching for both serums and moisturisers laced with it. For example, when she formulates skincare, she adds it to both these product types – and with good reason. “I typically always incorporate hyaluronic acid in both a serum and a moisturiser in order to ensure that the highest amount is applied daily onto the skin,” she says. “It is a suitable and safe ingredient for all skin types, genders and ages.”
