How to find your warm winter scent
Scents for the chilly season, featuring warm, spicy, and comforting notes.
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, it’s the perfect time to reach for a fragrance that wraps you in warmth. Whether you're drawn to spicy notes, velvety woods, or even flirty florals, finding your signature winter scent can make even the coldest days feel luxurious.
And you don’t need to settle with just one note; fragrance profiles have become more complex, with fragrance creators blurring the lines that stand between one family and the next.
We’ve gathered a few of our favourite fragrance families (and blended families) for a winter to remember…
The woods
Possibly the universal frontrunner when it comes to winter scents, the woody fragrance family contains all the classic cold-weather notes, like sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli. It’s a warm and inviting family, of course, but it’s also one that exudes opulence, so it’s a great option for those formal affairs or if you’re looking to make a lasting impression.
The wood family doesn’t always stand alone – sometimes they mix with other families, too, like the florals for a floral-woody scent that have softer, sweeter top notes with a heavier, wooded base. For a more masculine blend, woody-fruity fragrances can be refreshing but earthy and intense.

The orientals
The oriental fragrance family is one that embraces warm and exotic notes, like peppercorns, anise, cardamom, or cinnamon.
Vanilla, sweet as it is, plays a big part in how the oriental family functions. And while there are many fragrance options that contain vanilla as an element, there are other different types of orientals: those with an amber base (these are more sensual, ideal for romance), spicy orientals that draws inspiration from what’s on your spice rack (this is where the oriental family gets its ‘exotic’ reputation from), and woody orientals that remind you of a walk in a mossy forest or a cosy night in a wooden cabin.
It’s also a satisfactory olfactory moment when the spicy orientals meet the floral family. It’s a perfectly balanced scent with the right amount of warmth and a sprinkle of playfulness that will linger for hours.

The florals
While florals may not be the first family that comes to mind for winter, it is one that will brighten up any gloomy day.
When it comes to shopping for a floral fragrance, you’ll also see that it’s one of the most popular fragrance families, with endless options ranging from light and soft, like rose and jasmine, to fruity florals, like mango and apple, that blur the lines between floral and fresh.
