RSVP’d to all your soirees, family gatherings, and end-of-year functions? Now it’s time to prep for your party-ready makeup looks and break out your glittering palettes, boldest colours, and shimmery highlighters. And while classic looks like red lips and winged eyeliner are always a staple, there is no better time to take your glam makeup game up a level than the festive season. Ready to create a merry makeup look to match the mood? Try one - or all three – of these on-trend holiday beauty looks.

Shimmery smokey eye

The festive season is all about shimmer and shine and this look is bound to bring a sparkle to your eyes. While a traditional smokey eye is already showstopping, adding a superpowered shimmer instantly ups the ante, elevating this classic eye look and allowing your eyes to pop even more - perfect for any black-tie soirée.

Get the look: Start with an eyeshadow primer to create a smooth base and apply a matte, mid-tone neutral shade over your lid. Next, apply a shade darker than the base but lighter than the "smoke" (i.e. the darkest shade you'll use) to the outer corners and crease of your eyes. Now add the darker shade, applying it to the upper lid, above the lashes, and blending out and up with a brush. Finally, press a silver or charcoal glitter eyeshadow to the centre of the lid as well as to the inner corner of your eyes. Finish off your look with chic winged eyeliner and a few coats of mascara for voluminous, long lashes.

Bright and bold

You can't possibly go wrong with a statement lip colour, especially if you prefer keeping the rest of your makeup low-key. Whether you fancy creamy deep reds, glossy corals or matte purples and pinks, the right offering can give your makeup the perfect wash of colour. The key to rocking this look is to pair it with dewy, glowing skin, which is the perfect canvas to accentuate your bright pout. Since lips are the attention-grabber here, you can keep the rest of your look reasonably minimal. Think a touch of highlighter, blusher, and filled-in brows.

Get the look: Start by prepping your lips with a lip scrub followed by a nourishing balm. Next line your lips with a lip liner that matches your lipstick. This will help keep your colour in place and prevent bleeding. Starting at the centre of your lip, swipe the colour on and work toward the outer edges of your mouth. Repeat on your upper lip, following the contour of your pout. To prevent your bright lip from accidentally transferring to your teeth, place a tissue between your lips and press them together to remove excess colour.

Blush rush

Highlighters and bronzers might be our usual go-to’s when it comes to creating a party look, but this year we’re bringing the drama to our faces with our blush! No longer only reserved for the apples of your cheeks, the festive season is the perfect time to play with various shades and blusher techniques such as sunburnt, monochromatic and our fave, the draping trend—aka contouring with blush—to easily sculpt your face for a more defined look.

Get the look: After prepping your face with foundation and concealer, apply the blush very lightly on the apples of your cheeks - with a brush if you’re using powder or fingers if you’re using cream. Next, apply a bit more at your temples and at the highest point of your cheekbones just under the outer corners of your eyes. With a fluffy eyeshadow brush blend your blush into the crease of your eyes and connect it with the colour on your temples. For extra glam: Dust a metallic highlighter onto the tops of cheekbones, blending in well to create a luminous, light-catching glow.
