When is Black Friday in South Africa in 2019?
In South Africa, Black Friday falls on the last Friday of November. That means that this year it will fall on the 29th of November. We will be running deals as from mid-November so make sure you are signed up to our newsletter to be alerted of these great offers.
Why is it called Black Friday?
The term has its origins in America, where the day after Thanksgiving usually marked the start of the holiday shopping season. This is when American families would head to the shops to start stocking up on gifts and festive essentials. It was first called Black Friday by traffic officials who had quite a tough time dealing with congested streets and long queues on sidewalks as people waited to take advantage of seasonal offers. Today the term is simply used to describe a specific day on which most retailers offer excellent deals.
We’re offering both online and in-store specials
At Clicks, we understand that people prefer to shop in different ways. Some folks like to head out nice and early on Black Friday to be the first to cross the threshold when the doors open, while others wait out the storm and arrive a little later. Then, of course, there are digitally savvy individuals who like to shop from the comfort of their own homes by logging in online. This Black Friday, you can join us in-store, or find your savings online – the choice is yours.
TOP TIP: Black Friday is a great opportunity to stock up on non-perishable items that your household uses throughout the year. Think toilet paper, toothbrushes, disposable nappies, wet wipes, soap, shampoo and more. Keep an eye out for deals on these items and save yourself a lot of money in the year ahead.
