If you take/give your child more LACSON than you should If you take/give your child more LACSON than you should, or if you/your child take LACSON for a long time, you/your child may get nauseous (feeling the urge to vomit), start vomiting or get diarrhoea (frequent/loose watery stools) with excessive loss of water and electrolytes (salts), especially potassium from your body. In the event of overdosage, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If neither is available, contact the nearest hospital or poison control centre. Warnings:
Special warnings and precautions for use Painful abdominal symptoms of undetermined cause should be evaluated to exclude undiagnosed perforation or obstruction or undiagnosed disease/ condition that predisposes to either before the treatment is started (see section 4.3). In case of insufficient therapeutic effect after several days the dose and/or additional measures should be re-considered (see section 4.2). Chronic use of unadjusted doses and misuse can lead to diarrhoea and disturbance of the electrolyte balance. Diarrhoea also indicates overdosage. Although occasionally nausea and meteorism or flatulence have been reported on the high initial dosages used, these effects normally disappear when the maintenance dosage has been reached (see section 4.8). It should be taken into account that the defaecation reflex could be disturbed during the treatment. The dose normally used in constipation should not pose a problem for diabetics. The dose used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy is usually much higher and may need to be taken into consideration for diabetics. As lactulose is not absorbed to any significant degree, it may be given to diabetics. However, care should be taken in patients with lactose intolerance or in diabetic patients because of the presence of some free galactose and lactose. Paediatric population +N5Use of laxatives in children should be exceptional and under medical supervision. LACSON contains sugars such as fructose, galactose and lactose which may have an effect on the glycaemic control of patients with diabetes mellitus. Patients with the rare hereditary conditions of galactose intolerance e.g. galactosaemia, total lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption or fructose intolerance should not take LACSON.
