Brooklax® senna laxative chocolate (tablets).
Composition:
Each chocolate tablet contains 50 mg calcium sennoside 60% (equivalent to 30 mg sennoside A & B) and 175 mg hydrogenated palm kernel oil as an anti-oxidant.
Pharmacological classification:
A 11.5 laxatives.
Pharmacological action:
Promotes bowel movement by direct stimulating actions on the intestine.
Indications:
For the relief of occasional constipation.
Identification:
Brown, rectangular, scored chocolate tablets marked Brooklax on each half.
Presentation:
Cartons of 4 chocolate tablets blister-packed in printed cellowrap.

Usage instructions:
Dosage and directions for use:
Adults and children 12 years and over: chew one to one and a half chocolate tablets once daily. Children 6 to 12 years: chew half a chocolate tablet once daily.
Not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age.
Storage instructions:
Store below 25 degrees C.
Warnings:
Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to the ingredients.
Patients with intestinal obstruction or undiagnosed abdominal symptoms.
1. Frequent or prolonged use of this preparation may result in dependence on laxatives and loss of normal bowel function.
2. Do not use for a period longer than one week except on the advice of a doctor.
3. If you have noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for a period of longer than two weeks, consult a doctor before using the laxative.
4. This medicine should not be used in the presence of abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting.
5. Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a doctor.
Side effects and special precautions:
Abdominal discomfort such as cramps or colic may occur.
Prolonged use or overdosage can result in diarrhoea with excessive loss of water and electrolytes and possible atonic non-functioning colon.
Discoloration of urine may occur and may interfere with diagnostic tests.
Care should be taken in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
