Pharmacological action:
Guaiphenesin is an expectorant, that increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of tenacious sputum.
Pharmacokinetics:
Guaiphenesin is absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. It is metabolised and excreted in the urine.

Usage instructions:
Dosage and directions for use:
To be taken every 4 hours.
Adults and children 12 years and older:
10-20 ml orally. Do not exceed 120 ml in 24 hours.
Children 6-12 years:
5-10 ml orally. Do not exceed 60 ml in 24 hours.
Children 2-6 years:
2.5-5 ml orally. Do not exceed 30 ml in 24 hours, or as directed by a medical practitioner.
Dosage and directions for use:
Adults and children 12 years and over: 200 mg - 400 mg (10 to 20 ml) orally, every 4 hours. Do not exceed 2400 mg (120 ml) in 24 hours.
6 to 12 years: 100 mg - 200 mg (5 to 10 ml), orally every 4 hours. Do not exceed 1200 mg (60 ml) in 24 hours.
2 to 6 years: 50 mg -100 mg (2.5 to 5 ml) orally every 4 hours. Do not exceed 600 mg (30 ml) in 24 hours, or as directed by a medical practitioner.
