Impotex Forte capsules: 1. Scheduling status: not scheduled. 2. Proprietary name (and dosage form): Impotex Forte capsules. 3. Composition: Each capsule contains: Avena sativa HA* - 330 mg. Saw palmetto - 100 mg. St John's wort - 100 mg. *Contains avena sativa, brewers yeast, vitamin E, muira puama, Siberian ginseng, kola nut powder. 4. Pharmacological classification: A 32.16 others. 5. Indications: Impotex Forte is indicated as a vitamin and general supplement for invigoration and fortification in times of fatigue and debility, or declining capacity for work, and for assisting with mental concentration, improving athletic performance, also during convalescence. Impotex Forte can also be used as a prostatic assisting with urination problems in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) stages I and II, including sex hormone disorders, and to strengthen a weakened constitution. Ingredients: Saw palmetto: is used to improve sexual vigour, and as an aphrodisiac. St John's wort: alleviates anxiety, nervous stress and sleep disorders in order to allow the body to function more efficiently. It can also be taken for psychovegetative disturbances, and as a general antidepressant, for anxiety states, depressive moods assisting to cope with a stressful lifestyle. Brewers yeast: is a source of B-vitamins and protein. Vitamin E: is used to improve muscle strength and acts as an anti-oxidant. Muira puama: is commonly used for preventing sexual disorders and as an aphrodisiac. Siberian ginseng: has adaptogenic properties, with increase of endurance, increase of lymphocytes and immuno-modulation. Kola nut: has stimulant properties for energy and acts as a CNS stimulant and is thus indicated for individuals suffering from mental and physical fatigue. Kola nut can also be used as a short term supportive treatment in depressive states. Usage instructions:
Adult dose: one capsule morning and evening for two days, thereafter one capsule daily after supper.

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
In persons with uncontrolled high blood pressure (see "Warnings)". Contraindicated in persons with known gastric and duodenal ulcers. Contraindicated in persons with known yeast allergies.
Hypertension - products containing ginseng are not recommended for persons with uncontrolled high blood pressure (in excess of 180/90 Hg). Infants and small children are excluded from self-medication in any case. Severity of crohn's disease can be increased by dietary intake of brewer's yeast.
Simultaneous intake of yeast and MAO inhibitors can cause increase in blood pressure.
St John's wort should be avoided in patients taking MAOIs or within 14 days of MAOI discontinuation.

Brewers yeast:
Antimycotic drugs - these drugs can decrease yeast activity. MAOIs - concomitant use can cause increase in blood pressure.
Saw palmetto:
Anti-coagulant and anti-platelet agents - concomitant use may increase the risk of bleeding.
Oral contraceptives - concomitant use can interfere with oral contraceptives. Estrogens - may have antiestrogenic effect.
Vitamin E:
Anti-coagulant/antiplatelet drugs - may increase risk of bleeding with concomitant use.
Use during chemotherapy - on advice of oncologist.
Muira puama:
No interactions known.
Siberian ginseng:
Alcohol - may increase sedative effects of alcohol if used concomitantly. Anti-coagulant/antiplatelet drugs - may increase risk of bleeding with concomitant use.
Anti-diabetes drugs - possible hypoglycaemic activity, so monitor blood glucose levels closely.
CNS depressants - may cause additive sedative side effects. Cytochrome P450 substrates - evidence may suggest the activity of these may be inhibited.
Kola nut:
Concomitant use of the following drugs may increase the activity or adverse effects:
Acetaminophen, alcohol, amphetamines, anti-diabetes drugs, asprin, beta-adrenergic agonists, cimetidine, clozapine, CNS stimulants, disulfiram, ephedrine, ergotamine, lithium, mexiletine, MAOIs, oral contraceptives, phenylpropanolamine, quinolones, riluzole, terbinafine, theophylline, verapamil.
Keep out of reach of children.
