20 September 2023 | Azeez Jacobs

Washing your face and applying skincare products isn't only for mornings – you need a good night-time regimen too.

The best skincare routine for men is one that you follow twice a day. If you’re new to the men’s skincare game and you’re rolling along just fine with your face wash and an SPF-packed moisturiser in the AM, that’s awesome. However, if you’re ready to take even better care of your skin, it’s time to apply a before-bed skincare regime. This is when you incorporate corrective formulas into your routine to help reverse skin damage while you sleep. It’s just a few steps and there are affordable-yet-effective products for each one.

Step 1: Cleanse

Washing your face before bed makes the most sense and yet, is so often avoided. If you enjoy taking a shower at night or after the gym, make it a habit to wash your face too. Cleansing your face twice a day will ensure you remove every last trace of dirt, excess oil and pollution. Clicks Men's Power Skin Face Wash will get rid of the day’s junk on your face.

Step 2: Moisturise

As a crucial step in your PM regimen, use a night moisturiser rather than one with an SPF. A moisturiser with an SPF is for daily defence. Night creams include more moisturising ingredients and have a richer texture than day creams, allowing for maximum hydration of the skin while you sleep. Adding Cerave’s non-comedogenic (which means it contains ingredients that won't clog or block the pores on your skin) night cream to your routine can help hydrate, calm, and soothe your skin.

Step 3: Eyecare

The skin under the eyes is thinner than other skin on your face, and can easily start to look puffy if you are tired or stressed. Once the skin has been moisturised, an eye cream should be gently patted around and under the eyes. If you want to give your eye area an extra boost, you can use under-eye patches. Skin Republic Under Eye Patches are simple to apply and include caffeine, volcanic ash, and vitamin C to help decrease puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles.

Step 4: Nourish

Face masks are deep cleansers that absorb toxins and other impurities that have got into your pores while they dry on your face. Apply Sorbet Man Charcoal Peel-Off Mask to your face after cleansing it, for a really deep clean. Most masks should be left on for 10-15 minutes before being rinsed off with warm water. Following that, wash your face once more and apply a night moisturiser. This can be done once a week for an bonus boost to your skin.

Step 5: Treat

For men seeking additional skincare perks, we suggest including a retinol-based product in your PM routine. Retinol promotes cell turnover while minimising the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. It is a multitasking powerhouse ingredient that should only be used at night. If you’re a newbie, start with Neutrogena’s Retinol Boost Serum once or twice a week to observe how your skin reacts, then gradually increase to every other day or three times a week.
