Smart. Each film coated tablet contains: Ferrous bis glycinate (120 mg) equivalent to elemental iron - 24 mg. Folic acid BP - 500 mcg. Vitamin B12 BP - 2.6 mcg. Indications: Cheliron Forte is a haematinic/iron supplement. Identification: Cheliron/Cheliron Forte tablet: round brick red coloured film coated tablets. Cheliron syrup: olive green coloured syrup with blackcurrant flavor. Presentation: Cheliron tablet: hdpe bottle of 60 tablets. Cheliron Forte tablet: hdpe bottle of 30 tablets. Cheliron syrup: 150 ml syrup in a amber coloured glass bottle. Proprietary name (and dosage form). Cheliron (tablet). Cheliron Forte (tablet). Cheliron (syrup). Composition: Cheliron tablet: Each film coated tablet contains: Ferrous bis glycinate (75 mg) equivalent to elemental iron - 15 mg. Folic acid BP - 400 mcg. Vitamin B12 BP - 15 mcg. Excipients: magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, cross carmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose. Cheliron forte tablet: Each film coated tablet contains: Excipients: magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, cross carmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose. Cheliron syrup: Each 5 ml syrup contains: Ferrous bis glycinate equivalent to elemental iron - 15 mg. Folic acid BP - 400 mcg. Vitamin B12 BP - 15 mcg. Preservative: methyl paraben, propyl paraben. Excipients: sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, sodium citrate dihydrate, disodium edetate, hydrous citric acid, sodium carboxy methyl cellulose, xanthan gum, colourant-caramel, flavourant-blackcurrent, sucralose. Pharmacological classification: Category D, 8.3 erythropoetics (haematinic). Discipline: health supplement. All three substances are factors in the maintenance of good health. Pharmacological action: Ferrous bisglycinate uses amino acids as carriers for the iron molecules so as to improve absorption in the body. Ferrous bisglycinate remains stable in pH of the stomach and in the alkaline pH of the duodenum. The molecule is efficiently absorbed and is not subjected to chemical alterations. Iron from the ferrous bisglycinate helps to form red blood cells and helps in their proper function. Folic acid helps to form red blood cells. Vitamin b12 contributes to red blood cell formation. All three substances are factors in the maintenance of good health. Indications: Cheliron Forte tablets, Cheliron tablets and Cheliron syrup are haematinic health supplements to assist in red blood cell formation and the maintenance of good health.

How to use

Usage instructions:
Dosage and directions for use: Adults and children over 12 years: take one tablet daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Dosage and directions for use: Cheliron tablet/ Cheliron Forte tablet: Adults and children over 12 years: take one tablet daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Cheliron syrup: Adults and children over 2 years: take 5 ml (one teaspoon) daily or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Cheliron syrup is sugar free and tartarizine free. Shake well before use.

Storage instructions:
Store in a dry and dark place below 30 degrees C. Keep out of reach of children.

Warnings and special precautions: As with all iron preparations, a dark coloration of the stool may occur this is without clinical significance. Always tell your healthcare professional if you are taking any other medicine. If you are pregnant or breast feeding your baby please consult your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional for advice before taking this medicine. Drug interactions: Do not take Cheliron/Cheliron Forte within 2 hours before or after you take levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, penicillamine, antacids, or antibiotics. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Pregnancy & lactation: Reproduction studies in animals did not show any foetal risk. Controlled studies in pregnant women after the first trimester have not shown any undesirable effects on mother and neonates. There is no evidence of a risk during the first trimester and the possibility of a negative influence to the foetus is unlikely to occur. Mother's milk contains iron bound to lactoferrin. It is not known how much iron from the complex is passed into mother's milk. The administration of Cheliron Forte / Cheliron tablet / Cheliron syrup is unlikely to cause undesirable effects to the nursed child. Side-effects: Iron administration orally may cause gastric disturbances and abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, constipation and may cause black stools. Not all side effects reported for this medicine are included in this leaflet. Should your general health worsen or should you experience any untoward effects while taking this medicine, please consult your doctor, pharmacist or health care professional. Known symptoms of overdosage and particulars of its treatment: See side-effects and special precautions: In the treatment of acute iron poisoning priority is given to preventing further iron absorption from the gastro-intestinal tract. Emesis or lavage should be considered and serum-iron concentration should be monitored to estimate severity of poisoning. Treatment is symtomatic and supportive. If required, chelation therapy may be initiated. Contra-indications: In cases of iron overload (e.g. Haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis) or disturbances in iron utilization (e.g. Lead anaemia, sideroacrestic anaemia, thalassaemia) and anaemias not caused by iron deficiency (e.g. Haemolytic anaemia).
